Deborah Lippmann Ray of Light

Hope you're all enjoying a fabulous week!

After dipping into my Deborah Lippmann's for the last challenge I came across Ray of Light that I hadn't tried yet. I actually haven't tried any polishes in the flakie range so knew I had to use this one next.

To tell the truth I'm a little disappointed. I like it, the navy blue colour is nice, the flakies are awesome and I do like how they change from copper to green. However being a Lippmann polish it is lacking the WOW factor. I splurge on a Lippmann as I'm guaranteed a polish with amazing application and a punch of wow. Ray of Light lacks the usual amazing uniqueness that I've come to expect from Lippmann.

All in all it's nice but only nice, so meh.

Applied 2 coats with ease over one coat of Orly Shockwave.

Have a fabulous Wednesday!

Christmas Day nails

It's summer in Australia so while I enjoyed the reds and greens of Christmas it was time to get into summer colours. This pink is by Lime Crime and called Parfait Day. It is a gorgeous pastel candy pink and as I've said before I love Lime Crime so so so easy to use.

Again I have to apologise for the photos, there just wasn't time to get the camera out and take better ones. I did Nailside's awesome Christmas tree on my accent fingers and added a coat of Deborah Lippmann Boom boom Pow to the other fingers. I can promise it looked better in real life. I do wish though that I could find a gold glitter with the quality of DL but without the yellow tinted clear base.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and that Santa found you with some nail goodies :) I received some of the China Glaze Christmas sets, some Cirque polishes I have been longing for and the Zoya gold topcoat. Once I've recovered from Christmas I look forward to doing some manis with them and with the Color Club halo hues collection I purchased this month but had no time to try!

Stay safe

Santa Baby, Holiday Challenge

Day two of 12 days of Christmas Nail Art Challenge and the theme is green.

I adore green so find it hard to decide which green to use, I then picked up Zoya Holly from my stash and thought it doesn't get more perfect than that.

I used two coats of Zoya Holly, one coat of Zoya anchor top coat, waited around 20 minutes and it still wasn't dry so used one coat of Seche Vite. I then did a glitter gradient with Debroah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow and popped my nail decals into a bowl of water. I hadn't used the decals before but they were very easy to use. After about 10 minutes soaking the image becomes slippery and you slide it off and  on to your finger. It stays slippery which makes it easier to place exactly where you want it. Once happy with position I held paper towel over it and quickly followed with a coat of Seche Vite. I do just love this Santa he has a gorgeous face :)

OMG Zoya Ziv

I was excited about Zoya's Ornate Collection from the moment it started popping up on blogs. I've looked at lots of posts and thought it looked amazing. When I actually painted my first one Ziv on I was blown away. Photos truly can't do justice to this beautiful polish. It looks amazing on and is one of those polishes where I just keep staring at my hands as it's so gorgeous.

In the morning sun

Zoya describes Ziv as Zoya Nail Polish in Ziv can be best described as a full coverage, yellow-toned metallic gold foil with silver highlights and warm gold flake glitter accents. Try this for an extremely shiny, reflective, and eye-catching luxe gold nail. They are right it is so eye-catching! There are also hints of brown in the accents but these and the silver are only really noticeable when looked at close up. From further away they all add to the awesomeness that is Ziv.

Ziv was super easy to apply and was opaque in one coat, I did two though. For my accent finger I used China Glaze Passion and a thin coat of Deborah Lippmann Boom boom pow. I just love how it looks and think I'm going to need a back up bottle of this one :).

Have a happy Wednesday, we are on the downhill run to the weekend now.

Glittery Skittle nails

I love nail skittles and this summer collection by Essie just screamed out for me to do one. Oh have to confess and tell you I managed to slip Where's my chauffeur in here too :) Slightly addicted to that one, though it's finally not on my nails at this moment in time.

 Colours used
Thumb - Essie Mojito Madness
Index - Essie Fear or Desire
Middle - Essie Bikini so teeny
Ring - Essie Where's my chauffeur
Pinkie - Essie Off the shoulder

Then I had to add a little bling and painted a thin coat of Deborah Lippmann Boom Boom Pow. Love it! Though it does change the colours slightly as it is in a yellow sheer base.

Unfortunately my son does not love the skittle manicures as they remind him of the Ice Truck Killer of the Tv show Dexter. (whoops)

Happy Monday and have a safe and happy week

New hangbag - new nails

Just in love with my new handbag and think I may have found my favourite nail polish colour!
I simply adore Essie Turquoise and Caicos!

Essie Turquoise and Caicos went on with a very sheer first coat and I was worried it was going to be another Essie 4 coats to achieve the opacity I like. However 2nd coat and it had redeemed itself. I did do 3 coats but probably didn't need to. Below is this gorgeous colour on it's own, but to add a pop I finished with a coat of Deborah Lippman Boom Boom Pow.
