Australian Flag Nails

Good morning. From all my watching of the commonwealth games I have absolutely loved seeing a lot of the girls wearing nail art. So I decided to join in and do a very much not to scale Australian Flag. I used Zoya Edie as the base, white polish and Zoya Sooki as the red. I wanted smaller stars but I kept 'fixing' them so some ended up bigger than I intended. I feel all patriotic and have loved wearing this design. Does anyone else get excited to see nail art on TV?

Take care, Tx

Aussie Aussie Ausie Oi Oi Oi

Just a fun little mani in green and gold to continue celebrating Australia week. I used Zoya Josie and Darcy for this look. The photos aren't the best as I took them under artificial lighting, I really need to work on making artificial lighting work for me but I just love natural light. Hope everyone enjoy their Australia Day whether you're at the beach, a BBQ or just with friends and family. Have a good one, Tx.

Koala and gum leaves nail art

I painted a little Koala and some gum leaves to keep to my Aussie theme. I really like the little guy he's cute. My base colour is OPI Mermaid Tears, the leaves are Zoya Josie, the koala is Zoya Dove and the black Zoya Raven. I painted them with a thin nail art brush except for the middle of the Koala's head which I used a nail polish brush to make the shape.

Hope you're having a fab week, Tx.

Miss Ashleigh - And it was all Yellow and Show us Your Watermelons

Miss Ashleigh has done the most amazing bright and funky creme polishes just perfect for our Aussie summer. To grab some for yourself visit Miss Ashleigh at her website and keep up to date with all the news from Miss Ashleigh on her Facebook page. All Miss Ashleigh products are Australian made with a 5 Free formula.

This first one And it was all Yellow is so vibrant and fun! Apart from having a fabulous name, from one of my all time fav Coldplay songs it's the perfect yellow neon. As neons all tend to apply a little streaky I popped this one over a one coat white base and application was really great, very very minimal streaking. The finish on these cremes in impeccable and while I did use a top coat they don't need one for glossiness as they dry incredibly glossy. Then of course me being me did a little nail art :). I really like this colour and it's been the perfect weather to wear it in :)

This beauty is Show us Your Watermelons and wow bestill my heart it is the perfect watermelon shade! Not red, not orange, not pink but truly watermelon. I am wearing three coats and have minimal vnl. As with And it was all Yellow it really didn't need a top coat as it has amazing glossiness on it's own. The formula was fantastic and there were no streaky issues. I just adore this colour and how unique it is.

These polishes were sent to me for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Please note computer monitors may vary in colour display.

12 days of Christmas - Christmas Where You Live

So I'm a little behind but it's December so it's allowed :). This is Christmas in Australia. Unlike the Northern hemisphere we usually have a gorgeous sunny hot Christmas, where our Santas sweat and just about faint in their heavy outfits. For some strange reason we still stick to the traditional full hot Christmas lunch which leads to sleepy afternoons after hot stressful mornings. A bbq and salads would be far better suited to our climate but for some reason our families stick to the traditions.

I love this look and took a lot of inspiration from One Nail to Rule Them All's beach scene . I started with a base coat of butter London Fiver. I then painted two thirds of my nail with Zoya Rocky, trying to be a little 'wavy' it the top section. I added white to Rocky to paint some lines to look like waves. The bottom third I painted with butter London Cuppa. I then sponged white along the line to represent the waves meeting the shore and clouds in the sky. A large dotting tool was used for the sun. I then used my acrylic paints and did the Christmas tree and Santa hat. I let them dry added top coat and I was done :).

It's Monday already, I think Christmas is going to come very quickly! Have a good and safe week, Tx.

piCture pOlish - Mad Magenta

I love a fun bright color and Mad Magenta is a crazy beautiful colour. Now I'm not a pink girl but I do really like this shade. I love that it has blue undertones and its brightness makes it fun to wear. Mad Magenta dries with a rubbery finish that I just love! First photo below shows the finish, it's fun and something a little different. It also puts it into the class of polish that I can grab for a quick colour change and be happy with it on it's own.

It is also beautiful with top coat and below I've used HK girl top coat. It turns super glossy and just as pretty as the rubber finish.

I used two coats of Mad Magenta and the formula was fantastic, smooth and applied easily. Now I had to add some art to my nails and I adore how it turned out.

It's the perfect polish for some fun leopard print and gold compliments the pink perfectly. I used China Glaze Passion for the gold dot shapes and China Glaze I'm not Lion for the gold glitter on my ring finger. A perfect polish for Spring and to encourage the warm weather along.

piCture pOlish have provided this polish to me for review, to grab some for yourself go to piCture pOlish On-line Store.

Picture Polish - Paradise

Today I'm wearing Paradise by Picture Polish. I love how the base colour is a blue green shifting colours with movement and light. It has stunning glitters that are pink to purple and change with the light also. It is such a unique polish and unlike anything else I own. Application was a breeze! I used 3 coats here but I could have gotten away with 2. Dry time was excellent which is very important with a puppy who is into everything!! I really love this one and it is so nice to easily apply a polish that looks as stunning as this one. Unfortunately winter seems to be making my hands red, especially of a morning :(. It's the only time of day I have to take colour accurate photos so for the next couple of months we'll just have to pretend the redness isn't there :).

Have a fantastic Tuesday x

Cate Ruby - Sky

Here is the second Cate Ruby nail polish I have to review for you and wow it's a fantastic polish. This is Sky and it's a gorgeous pastel blue. I'm going to make a big call and say from a girl who owns many many pastels this is the best pastel blue polish I've ever used. It applies so beautifully and could even be a one coater. Two coats has completely covered the nail and there was no streakiness that is prevalent in pastels. The brush on this one was perfect from the start and fans perfectly, adding to the ease of use with this polish.

Cate Ruby is an Australian owned and made polish that offers a wide range of colour choices. This polish is streets ahead of any main stream pastel polish I have used. Cate Ruby is priced at 15ml standard salon size RRP $17.95 or  9ml mini RRP $10.95. I am so pleased to see another brand offering minis. You can find out more about Care Ruby on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest    and youtube. Please visit their website at Cate Ruby to view the other amazing colours, find suppliers and learn all about this fabulous Australian brand.

Cate Ruby - Navy Star

(above taken indoors with artificial lighting)

Today I have a polish from the Australian brand Cate Ruby to share with you. It's my first time using this brand and wow, colour me impressed!

The formula is just gorgeous, so silky and smooth. The colour is simply stunning, it's a rich dark navy blue but when light hits, it shimmers navy to royal blue. The polish has great pigmentation and could easily be used as a one coater. I wanted the perfect finish and ended up using three thin coats. The brush is a good size but took a little wearing in, it wasn't until the third coat that it started to fan properly and from there on it was a dream to work with. Dry time was excellent. The bottles are stunning and would look fabulous left out on a shelf. They come with a removable rhinestone stretch ring that you can wear, or leave on the bottle. Such a neat idea!

Cate Ruby is an Australian owned and made polish that offers a wide range of colour choices. The formula is superb and just as good as, and most definitely better than some other high end brands. This is so exciting to see from an Australian company! Cate Ruby is priced at 15ml standard salon size RRP $17.95 or  9ml mini RRP $10.95. I am so pleased to see another brand offering minis. Please visit their website at Cate Ruby to view the other amazing colours, find suppliers and learn all about this fabulous Australian brand.
