Australian Flag Nails

Good morning. From all my watching of the commonwealth games I have absolutely loved seeing a lot of the girls wearing nail art. So I decided to join in and do a very much not to scale Australian Flag. I used Zoya Edie as the base, white polish and Zoya Sooki as the red. I wanted smaller stars but I kept 'fixing' them so some ended up bigger than I intended. I feel all patriotic and have loved wearing this design. Does anyone else get excited to see nail art on TV?

Take care, Tx

Orly's New Limited Edition Collection – SMOKEY

ORLY’S NEW LIMITED EDITION COLLECTION – SMOKEY

Take a trip to the dark side of beauty with ORLY’s NEW Limited Edition Collection –
Smokey. Inspired by the shades and hues of an essential and timeless smokey eye, the palate
of six polishes is reminiscent of secret night time adventures and moonlit city rendezvous’.
An enigmatic blend of shimmers and crèmes, the finishes are a mix of gloss and matte – so that
we can unleash our inner bad-girl with the ORLY Smokey Collection.

A bold and alluring palette of six dusty shades, ORLY’s Smokey Collection features:

• Highlight: Grey Crème • Brush It On: Rose Bronze Duo Chrome Shimmer
• Edgy: Antique Bronze Shimmer • Blend: Warm Taupe Crème
• Darkest Shadow: Black w/ Red Shimmer
• Smoked Out: Dark Green Matte Shimmer

I have two to share with you today.

I really like this collection and know I'm going to be buying some more. This beauty is Darkest Shadow. I was very impressed with the formula of this polish especially as it has glitter throughout. It applied easily and I am wearing two coats but you could get away with just one. The red glitter adds a great wow factor to the black base and some of the glitter has flakie like properties as the glitter at times turns to an olive gold. Orly nailed this one and it's very much a polish for night time adventures.

The second I have to show you today is Blend. This is actually pretty much the exact colour I like to blend into my eye crease when I get around to wearing make up that is :). It really is a great smoky soft cocoa brown. Again the formula was perfect and I am wearing two coats.

ORLY Professional Nailcare is available from selected pharmacies and salons nation wide,
as well as online at: www.orlybeauty.com.au

These polishes were sent to me for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Please note computer monitors may vary in colour display.

Lemon and multi colour Zig Zags

Good morning :) I'm really not a lemon/yellow person, but this polish from Lime Crime has won my heart. Crima Da Limon is the perfect pastel yellow, not too soft but not too bold. I wanted to try the technique I used on multi coloured stripes on the zig zag pattern. It worked just as well and I love the freedom it will give in future designs. Zig Zags are nice with just the two colours but with extra colours they create a whole other look. The glitter on my ring finger is a England Merlin and I used Zoya Dove for the grey.

To create this look you can follow this tutorial and replace the straights vinyl decals for zig zag ones :)

Stay safe, Tx.

Aussie Nails Monday - theme Waterfall nail art

Hello :) Today I've done my first ever waterfall design, it was fun but I need to practice my brush skills as they just don't seem to do what I want them too. Still I got there in the end :). I had to use green, I love my greens so I used Powder Perfect Tristan for my base, the stripes are from darkest to lightest, Zoya Alexa, Niocle by Opi Iceberg Lotus, Celestial Cosmetics custom T's in a Tizz creme and Zoya Dillon. I wish I could have gotten my stripes more even and skinnier :/.

Have a wonderful week, Tx.

Two Birds Lacquer - Floral State-ment Collection review

Warning this post is picture heavy.

I'm excited to show you a new Indie Australian brand Two Birds Lacquer. The collection I'm sharing today is the Floral State-ment Collection, a celebration of Australia's unique and beautiful flowers. On the whole I was very impressed with the formula of these polishes and the ease with which the glitter was to place on the nail. As a new polish brand it's great to see such attention to detail and care given to make sure the customers will be happy and love their polishes.  I also love that this brand uses just enough glitter in a lot of their polish to be subtle but still amazing. This collection has 9 polishes with jelly glitters and creme glitters. Now onto the photos

This is Cooktown Orchid the flower for Queensland. With a white crelly base that has just a hint of pink the glitter colours are still visible and I love the tiny gold glitter that is through out the polish. I used 2 coats and one top coat.

This gorgeous red leans towards pink and is Sturt's Desert Pea and is the flower for South Australia. This polish impressed me with it's pigmentation and was easily opaque in two coats, something I find rare in red polishes. The formula was a little thin and I found I needed to be careful to not flood my cuticles and at times the glitter slid off the brush before I got it onto the nail. I love the finished product, and found it worth that little extra work as it's simple but stunning..

This beauty is Sturt's Desert Rose which is the Northern Territoriality's flower.  With a blush pink crelly base and pink and white glitter it dries with a soft cloudy finish that is feminine and so pretty. I am wearing two coats and one coat of top cop.

Next up is Common Heath the flower for Victoria. The crelly base is a dusty rose pink and I love the pastel glitters in this one and the extra bonus of cute little star glitter. I am wearing 3 thin coats and one coat of top coat.

Royal Bluebell is the flower for the ACT. This has a white crelly base but to make the colours really pop I used a base colour of white. I am wearing two thin coats and the purple and blue glitter really pop. This polish also has star glitter that I just love.

Can you guess this my favourite? Of course it's green but isn't it just the prettiest shade of green? It's what I'd call a pea green and I love it. This polish is Red and Green Kangaroo Paw and the flower of Western Australia. It has teeny pieces of red and white glitter. Red and Green Kangaroo Paw showcases one of the things I really like about this brand, that a polish doesn't have to be totally full of glitter to be stunning. I am wearing two coats with one coat of top coat.

My second favourite polish is this one the Tasmanian Blue Gum. Firstly as it's my state Tasmania's flower and secondly it's a gorgeous green glitter bomb. Tasmanian Blue Gum has an emerald jelly base with glitter in green, white and gold in various sizes. I love the squishy jelly look.  I am wearing two dabbed coats with one coat of top coat.

Another squishy jelly is Waratah the flower of New South Wales. I love the glass like finish on this one and the scarlet red jelly base has glitters in red and gold. This formula was a little thin but with careful application the final look was worth it. I am wearing 3 thin dabbed coats with one coat of top coat.

Lastly we have Golden Wattle the floral emblem of Australia. This is a great versatile polish as it can be worn over other colours, as a gradient or on it's own. I did 3 coats to reach opaqueness and one coat of top coat.

Powder Perfect Isabelle

Hi! Hope you're enjoying the weekend. I'm getting tired staying up watching the Commonwealth games. I love watching swimming like most Aussies but the finals are in the middle of the night! It's worth it though :) Today  I have the gorgeous Isabelle from Powder Perfect to share with you. It's a gorgeous red full of red glitter and gold flakies all in a squishy looking jelly base. I added a gold stamped accent nail to bring out the gold in the polish. It's brought an oriental feel to the design that I quite like. Ahh red nail polish, there's just something about it that looks and feels so right, even if it is a cliché nowadays.

Stay Safe, Tx

I Love Nail Polish Washing Ashore Chevron Design

Hey there everyone, today I have a polish from an American Indie, not something I do very often. This beauty is Washing Ashore by I Love Nail Polish. I don't own many overseas indies as we have some of the best in Australia, who are always bringing new polishes out to empty my wallet. I do love the I Love Nail Polish brand and this awesome multichrome is one of the reasons I do. They make awesome multichromes. Washing Ashore turns from teal, to blue to hints of purple. It's so pretty and didn't disappoint at all. I added and accent nail with chevrons over a England Excalibur. This was one of those dangerous polishes where not much got done during the day as I was too busy watching the colour shift :)

Have a great weekend, Tx

Zoya Anja Dotticure

Waves hello :) Hope your week is going well, it's Friday here now, thank God for Fridays. Today's design features a gorgeous new to me polish, Zoya Anja. It's a gorgeous vampy ox blood colour with undertones of purple. I added an accent nail in Cult Nails Blackout and added dots of Zoya Purity, Zoya Trixie and Zoya Anja over white. I think it looks great for a winter look.

Have a great Friday, Tx

It is a dark fuchsia heading to plum full of shimmer in gold, purple and fuschia. It has stunning flakies that come alive in the sun as you can see in the bottom photo. The formula was fabulous and I know this is a polish I'll wear again and again.

Have a fabulous day, Tx

Juicy Cocktail Gradation Nails Mint Frappe aka Prom Nails take 2

I couldn't decide yesterday between the design I did for prom nails or finally trying out my juicy cocktail gradation nails kit from Etitude House. So today you get to see take two on a prom nails theme.

This is a really cute little set of polishes, it contains three polishes a base colour, a gradation colour and the matching glitter. I thought the base colour was a bit sheer so I first did two coats of Essie Fashion Playground. I added two thin coats of the sets base colour over top. You then use the gradation polish basically wherever you want but leave some of the base colour showing. Then it was simple a matter of dabbing the glitter on. I'm not 100% sold on it, I like it then I look again and I'm not sure. I think the idea behind it is great, I'm just not sure I applied as well as I could have.

Hope you're enjoying your day, Tx
