Easter Nails

I love this time between collections when I get to do some nail art :). You know I adore pastels and I love that while it's Autumn here Easter gives me a good reason to wear them. In today's look I'm using my own Grace-full's Anne and Emma with simple dots and stripes.

Water MArble with Dreamy Beach Pastels

I've been watching the lovely water marbles that you have all been creating with the pastels. I have never had a successful attempt at a water marble but all those gorgeous photos made me have another go. It's far from perfect but this is the closest I've ever gotten to having a semi decent water marble. The pastel polishes work incredibly well for water marbling and all the problems I usually have didn't happen!! So if you have never made a great water marble try with these pastels! I used Anne, Jacinta and Maddison.

Sorry I haven't been around much but I've been working on a new collection. I love creating but do miss my nail art time. Hopefully I'll eventually find the balance between the two :)

Pastel Triangle Nails - Wave of Polish

This design is not just pink and blue but I think with addition of mint green it still looks appropriate for babies. The periwnkle on my index nail is OPI You're Such a Budapest. The green on my ring nail is China Glaze At Vase Value and the pink is China Glaze In a Lily Bit. The triangles were made with striping tape over a base white colour. It's soft and pretty and I really like it :)

Pastel Polka Dot Nails

One of the last pastel designs had to combine two of my favourites, polka dots and pastels. I love how easy they are but they always look beautiful. My index I am wearing Sea Siren - Motion of the Ocean, middle finger is OPI Mod About You, ring finger is Sea Siren Tranquillity and my pinkie is Cate Ruby Sky. I used the same colours in the dots with the addition of white.

Easter Nail design - pastel stripes and bunny

I'm still loving playing with Easter designs. I wish my stamp had come out clearer in this one but he's such a cute bunny I couldn't resist using him. On my index finger is Sea Siren Cosmetics Gossip, my index is one coat of Zoya Trixie and two coats of Sea Siren Poetics Reflections, the white on my ring finger is Kester Black French White and my pinkie is Sea Siren Cosmetics Tranquillity. The stamp is from a Bunny Nails plate and the other pastels are the ones I've been using in previous designs.

Easter Bunny Nail Art

I had lots of fun with this one :) I love pastels so leading up to Easter I get to go pastel crazy, you have been warned :). Today's nails have piCture pOlish Peaches n'cream on my index, OPI Rumples Wiggin on my middle finger, Powder Perfect Polish Tristan on my ring finger and Cate Ruby Sky on my pinkie. I used these same colours in the Easter eggs, dots and flowers.

Sea Siren Cosmetics - Tranquility

Tranquility really is the perfect name for this gorgeous lavender creme from Sea Siren. The colour is so soft, feminine and pretty, the perfect pastel lavender. The first coat was a little streaky but the second coat evened it all out perfectly. I am wearing three coats as it's mainly a habit I have with lighter colours and one coat of top coat. I am seriously impressed with the creme polishes I've used this far from Sea Siren. 

This nail design is a simple zigzag pattern with a glitter nail that perfectly compliments Tranquility. Plain swatches of Tranquility can be seen below.

Teddy Mani for Wave of Polish Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness

Today's Mani is based on a tutorial from http://polishpedia.com/teddy-bear-nail-art.html

I had to try the cute Teddy and while mine isn't as cute I like him. Unfortunately my camera ran out of batteries so I only got one good picture. The pastel blue I used is Cate Ruby's Sky and the oink is Alanna Renee's It's a Girl. I love the cuteness factor on this look :).

Pastel Roses

I've wanted to try to do rose art for ages and finally gave it a go. I'm really pleased with how they turned out, they are far from perfect but I like that about them. There's just something so soft and feminine about the whole mani and it's a nice change from dark and glitter.

I used Cate Ruby - Sky as a blue base and OPI - Mod About You as the pink base. The flowers are OPI mod about you, OPI Sparrow me the Drama and Nubar White Tip.  make large uneven dots with Mod About You, then added a dot of OPI Sparrow me the Drama, I finished with Nubar - White Tip which I swirled through the two pinks. The leaves are Essie - First Timer.

Celestial Cosmetics - New Range and a chance to win polish!

Cate Ruby - Sky

Here is the second Cate Ruby nail polish I have to review for you and wow it's a fantastic polish. This is Sky and it's a gorgeous pastel blue. I'm going to make a big call and say from a girl who owns many many pastels this is the best pastel blue polish I've ever used. It applies so beautifully and could even be a one coater. Two coats has completely covered the nail and there was no streakiness that is prevalent in pastels. The brush on this one was perfect from the start and fans perfectly, adding to the ease of use with this polish.

Cate Ruby is an Australian owned and made polish that offers a wide range of colour choices. This polish is streets ahead of any main stream pastel polish I have used. Cate Ruby is priced at 15ml standard salon size RRP $17.95 or  9ml mini RRP $10.95. I am so pleased to see another brand offering minis. Loki's Lacquer - Spring has Sprung and Easter Egg Hunt

Today I have two pretty polishes from Loki's Lacquers Easter collection. The green Spring has Sprung is so pretty but has given me lobster hands :(. The pastel glitter topper named Easter Egg Hunt is gorgeous and it matches colours in this collection perfectly. It also will go with just about all pastels, so a very good multi use polish to add to my stash :).

Spring has Sprung has two coats over a base of OPI Gargantuan Green Grape. It has micro holograph glitter throughout that makes my fingertips sparkle. I just love it and think it makes the perfect Easter look. Loki's Lacquer are another Australian Indie that you can find on Etsy.

DIY Speckled Nails

I can't find anywhere to buy Illamasqua Speckled polishes so thought I would try the amazing tutorial by Lucy's Stash on how to make your own. I used pastels from the butter London sweetie shop and Zoya Blu. A lesson I learnt is polish choice does matter. I don't have the Models Own pastels that were used in the tutorial and thought butter London were sheer enough but they weren't, Zoya Blu was even worse and far too opaque.

I followed the tutorial right up to adding a thin coat over the first coat of Nubar black polka dots. The thin coat completely covered the dots :(. So then I started dabbing at the wet coat with the polish brush and it removed enough to be able to see the dots. I had to repeat the process in the next step of adding the last polish where you do only place the polish in some areas. In the end I am happy with how they came out but do want to warn that not all polishes are equal and it may take a little more work to get the desired look. It wasn't really possible with Zoya Blu as it was to opaque and started to dig holes in the polish so I swapped to Essie Borrowed and Blue which worked much better than Zoya.

Pink (which worked the best) butter London - Fruit Machine - Index finger

Purple butter London - Molly Coddled - middle finger

Green butter London - Fiver - ring finger

orange butter London - Kerfuffle - pinkie

blue - Zoya Blu and Essie borrowed and Blue - pinkie

Dots - Nubar Black Polka Dots.

Sayuri - Fairy Kei

I'm happy to introduce you to a new Australian Indie brand Sayuri. It's always great to see another Australian brand and it's even more exciting that Sayuri offers a unique range of polishes.

Today I'm showcasing my personal favourite Fairy Kei. If you've read here awhile my favourite after green nail polish  is pastels. I love them and while some may only associate them with spring or Easter I think every day can be a pastel day. Fairy Kei is the perfect glitter for pastel fans.

In a translucent lilac base Fairy Kei has matte pink, purple and light blue hexes with small purple glitter throughout. Here I have used 2 coats over Cult Nails Princess. Fairy Kei applied well, as with all glitters it's best to turn them upside down 10 minutes before use to have full advantage of all the glorious glitters within. I love Fairy Kei, it's exciting to have a unique polish and the mix of matte glitters are exquisite, it is so girly with an ethereal feeling.

For my ring finger I used Essie She's Picture Perfect and stamped with Color Club holo Blue Heaven.
