Aussie Nails Monday - candy/lollies

My tongue in cheek attempt at Chocolate freckles :) Not sure if they are a worldwide chocolate lolly or just in Australia so I have added a photo just below. They are round buttons of milk chocolate dipped into what we call 100's and 1000's. I used Nubar Milk Chocolate Creme as the base and added real 100's and 1000's onto my nails. I didn't top coat as I'm pretty sure the colours would have run off the balls. It was lots of fun and why not try something different? :)

Custom Blues for Autism Auction

I'm excited to tell you that an auction has been arranged to fundraise for ASPECT Australia. Autism Spectrum Australia (Aspect) is a not-for-profit organisation committed to helping people on the autism spectrum achieve their potential. Aspect builds confidence and capacity with people on the autism spectrum, their families and their communities.

A very worthwhile cause I'm sure you'll agree :) Now the truly exciting part is that many of Australia's Indie nail polish creators and some overseas creators have donated one off polishes to the auction. I'm sure that gets the heart racing in everyone of us nail polish addicts.

Now onto the nails

My second Blue nails for Autism. This looked far cooler in my head and lost a little something in translation. There are actually three different blues striped under the top blue but they don't show that well :( Overall I like the look it's just not what I pictured. Can I also just say a big UGH to striping tape, it can create the most awesome designs but it's such a pain to work with!

Disney Princess Challenge - Sleeping Beauty

This week's challenge is Sleeping Beauty. Now once upon a time Sleeping Beauty was blue, but at some stage Disney decided to change her to pink. I think it was so there was a difference between her and Cinderella. From my childhood memories she wore blue with a black hair band but to fit modern day Sleeping Beauty I went with the pink.

The lighter pink is OPI Mod about You, the darker pink is OPI Sparrow me the Drama, the gold glitter is China Glaze I'm Not Lion, the past yellow is Face of Australia Easy Peasy, Lemon Squeezy and the gold China Glaze Passion. In some pictures her crown had red stones so I added one of those, I love a rhinestone :)

Hard Candy - Gummy Green

I really like this new speckle trend, it's something different which is always good to see. In my hunt for the perfect speckled polish I came across this US brand Hard Candy and had to try it, of course the green one. I wasn't sure when the bottle arrived but now it's on I like it. It applied beautifully and there was an abundance of glitter. I don't think I like it as much as my DIY speckled nails but I do like it. 

It's different to anything else I own. I'm waiting on the arrival of my Illamasqua Speckled, so it will be good to compare when that arrives,

Kiwi Smoothie - The Hungry Asian

Today I have one of The Hungry Asian's gorgeous summer collection called Kiwi Smoothie. It's less blue than a mint green but still falls under a pastel green colour. Throughout the polish are tiny dots of black glitter which really cause it to live up to it's name.

It applied easily though it is very sheer and required four coats on some nails. The finish is so soft and glossy and I only added top coat to prevent chips and wear.

Paint it Blue for Autism

 April is Autism Awareness Month and April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day. Each April 2, Autism Speaks celebrates Light It Up Blue along with the international autism community, in commemoration of the United Nations-sanctioned World Autism Awareness Day. Light It Up Blue is a unique global initiative that kicks-off Autism Awareness Month and helps raise awareness about autism. In honor of this historic day, many iconic landmarks, hotels, sporting venues, concert halls, museums, bridges and retail stores are among the hundreds of thousands of homes and communities that take part to Light It Up Blue. I have joined in with many members of the nail community and we are painting it blue for Autism. Some are painting it blue for every day this month or like me for a day a week.

This week I have used the awesome Deborah Lippmann - Lady Sings the Blues. It's a beautiful deep navy with different shades of blue hex glitter. I love it and as always is the case with Debroah Lippmann it pops on my fingers and has so much depth.

Loony Lacquer - Grasshopper

This is the last polish I have to show you from Loony Lacquer's Hidden Garden Collection. I saved it until last as it's GREEN :) I love them all but this is my favourite.

Grasshopper has a clear base and gorgeous emerald green hex glitter with micro pieces of black glitter. By having a clear base it means your possibilities of combining this polish with other colours is endless. I have used it over three colours in this post. First is my favourite and there are two coats of Grasshopper over Zoya Holly. It looks simply stunning! and don't forget emerald is the colour of the year so it is right on trend. The black pieces of glitter when place over an emerald green base give the polish depth and a layered look. Grasshopper was a breeze to apply and had good drying time.

Just look at that gorgeous green glitter!! swoon :)
