AN Monday - theme - prom nails

We don't really have proms in Australia, we have similar events but nothing as big as a prom. I think this is something I'd choose for my daughter, it's still girly without being babyish. I used two coats of OPI  Mod About You and one coat of Powder Perfect Aisle Right to give it a pearlised look. I have gold caviar beads in my index finger, hex glitter pieces on my middle finger, I'm not really sure what I was doing with the diamentes but it came out looking kind of like a flower, squint if you can't see it :). On my pinkie is a coat of a England She Walks in Beauty over the pink base colour. I'm really quite happy with how it turned out though not a 100% on the diamentes. It's the closest I'll ever get to doing prom nails so I found it a lot of fun :)
Hope you've had a fabulous weekend, Tx

Multi-colour nail art stripes photo tutorial

(colours used picture polish peaches n cream - base, butter London Trout Pout, Zoya Dove, Purity and Trixie and a England Merlin on accent nail)

Hi everyone! I had a request to do a tutorial on multi colour stripes. I hope I've taken enough photos to show each step I do.

Firstly you need to paint you base colour and leave it until it is dry, if you apply tape too early it will ruin the base colour. Once dry you place the nail vinyl straights in whatever size and width that you would like. Make sure before adding colour that they are all adhering properly to stop any bleeding of colour. You can see how I taped mine below.

The next stage is choosing a colour for your stripe, I place a small amount polish on baking paper, you can use whatever surface is best for you, some use palettes or al foil. Get a nail art brush and colour in between the decal with your polish, I do my whole hand in one go with the different colours. You then just repeat with your different colours. I save one colour to use in the next stage to place different coloured stripes than just the base colour together.

repeat until you've filled all the gaps in. I then found it easiest to take the tape off with tweezers, go carefully to stop polish pulling off.

The next step is to place your final colour on so that you have different colours together than just the base colour. It's important here that you've let the other stripes dry as you will place decals on to the stripes you just made. You could also top coat here before placing your last colour. As you can see I butt the decals up to nearly the edge of the stripe to make sure I fully cover the area between the stripes. I did this stage one finger at a time as the stripes are so fresh it's best to work quickly on each nail.

In the photo below you can see I'm at my pinkie with the silver foil I've used as my last colour.

If you end up with dried clumps (best word I can think of for it but where polish has dried in a lump on to the next stripe or moved on top of itself when you've pulled off the tape) on top of your stripe or hanging into the next one carefully, very carefully wet your clean up brush with acetone and just sit it on the lump for a split second, you may need to do it a couple of times to dissolve the lump but don't be too aggressive or you'll ruin the stripes. If you can get rid of these before top coat there is less chance of bleeding. I sometimes I will go back over a stripe with polish and a nail art brush if I have a bleed. Then it's just a matter of topcoat, I paint my topcoat in the direction of the stripes to stop smearing. I also flood my nail with topcoat so that the brush doesn't touch the polish and cause smearing.

Hope this has been helpful, Tx.

Rose Skittlette

Hey there. Today's post is one of my favourites as it combines two of my favourite things, a rich gorgeous green and roses :). I wouldn't like to know how many green polishes I own but it is hard to find a nice bright rich green that is green and not heading into blue/green/teal colour. This one from Catrice is I'm Not a Greenager and application was faultless. The glitter on my middle finger started off as Essie Beyond Cosy but as it has gold and silver glitter it was over powered by the gold stamping and studs so I added a coat of Bella Belle Golden Helm to even it out. The stamping was done with China Glaze Passion and Moyou Mother Nature plate 11. I hope you enjoy this design as much as I do.

Yay for Fridays!! Tx.

Zoya Isla - Taped Stamped mani

Good morning, we've finally passed hump day and I can't wait for the weekend. Today's design is a new technique for me and I really like it. I started with a white base on all may nails. I then used Konad black and Moyou Pro plate 20 to do the swirly design. I top coated and waited for it all to dry.I then used a curvy decal and placed them on all the nails, then it was just simply painting Zoya Isla on all my nails and carefully removing the decal. I think the black and white design adds an interesting pop to the design.

Have a great day, Tx

Powder Perfect Isolde X design

Hello readers :) I know shock of horrors I'm wearing pink. You know I'm not a pink fan but I do really like this pastel pink. Isolde is a creme base polish with tiny silver particles throughout. I paired it up with a England Merlin and did the cross design on my middle fingers. This is kind of a nice palette cleanser for a day off from wearing lots of bright colours lately.

Hope your week is going great, Tx

AN Monday - tribal print nail design

Hi everyone! Believe it or not this is my very first time trying a tribal print. I've just never been drawn to do one before. I enjoyed it though and had fun with the different designs and colours. I used Cate Ruby Blue Bubblegum for the blue, the deeper coral is butter London Trout Pout and the lighter coral butter London Kerfuffle. I used Zoya Raven for black. Now I used a handy hint I picked up from labmuffin, before applying my top coat I applied a layer of my peel off base coat that dries clear, you can also use PVA. I waited until it was entirely dry and then added top coat and had no smearing at all! I usually find my home girl top coats don't smear small designs or stamping but I was worried with that much black that it would smear so I was very happy to get away with no smearing. Now most of the design is free handed except for the step looking parts for which I used chevron decals sideways to paint the shape. If you haven't tried a tribal design yet give it a go, you can't really go wrong and there are so many different designs you can use.

Have a lovely week, Tx.

Bright and Quirky nail design - dots and Zig Zag

I want to call these circus nails as they are quirky and fun but really it's just me playing around with colours. If you're a windows user you may recognise this palette as Iris available in Word and Publisher. The orange is OPI Toucan DO It If You Try, the green is butter London Jaded Jack, the blue is Essie Butler Please! and the off white is OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls. I like the bright colours together and I'm really enjoying using different colour palettes on my nails :)

Have a fabulous relaxing Sunday, Tx.
