Aussie Nails Monday - Skittles

Today I'm taking part in my first Aussie Nails Monday challenge. Please visit the links below to see some awesome Aussie bloggers.

Today's theme is skittles and I couldn't decide what to do until I felt Zoya's beach and surf collection staring at me :) I adore this collection and don't wear it as much as I should.

On my pinkie the bottom half is Myrta and the top is Arizona 

my ring finger is bottom Rory and top Shelby

Middle finger the bottom half is Zuza and top Wednesday

Index finger bottom half is Carly and the top is Reagan.

I started with a base colour of Zoya Purity, then used striping tape down the diagonal middle, and painted the bottom half then the top half. Wait 30 seconds and carefully pull off striping tape.

Excuse the photo overkill I couldn't decide which ones to use.

Opi Liquid Sand - Stay the Night

Liquid sand is a new texture and I was dubious whether I would like it or not. I do love how it looks, it looks much better in person than in photos. The texture though is very gritty and try as I might I just don't like gritty. It is a unique look and I do love the look but think I will keep it for a special occasion rather than being in my regularly used pile.

Stay the night is more sparkly than pictures show with a black base and hot-red glitter. In some lights the glitter looks more red than hot pink. It was easy to apply but I did chip it in the first half an hour.

Julie - Zoya Lovely Collection

This is Julie from Zoya's Lovely Collection. Zoya call the fabulous finish unique micro-diamond shimmer  and shimmer it does! It's a gorgeous pastel lilac, and I thought I would have a dupe in my collection but I don't. It is the usual Zoya awesome application and for this look I used three coats but two would have been fine. 

I'm loving this Lovely Collection so far.

Gorgeous shimmer!

Zoya Blu and Ozotic 603

I had to play around with Zoya Blu so I added some taped moons and two accent fingers of Ozotic 603. Ozotic 603 is described as a medium blue nail lacquer with scattered holographic shimmer. It's gorgeous and adds pop to your fingers. It's pretty in the shade but simply stunning in the sun.

Zoya Blu - Lovely Collection

This is the gorgeous Blu from Zoya's Lovely Spring collection. As with most Zoya's it was a dream to use and these were done with just two coats.

It came out brighter than I expected and I am just delighted with the colour!

Simplicity

I received Zoya Trixie and Purity this week and I really wanted to try them out. I love Trixie it is the silver version of Ziv from the ornate collection and purity is a lovely crisp white.

I stamped with Sally Hansen Silver Sweep and the accent finger is Emilydemolly Simplicity. It is a dream to apply and a really unique polish.

I like but don't love this look but I do love the new Zoyas.

Ombre Nails

This is my first attempt and second attempt at doing ombre nails. They were trickier than the youtube clips allowed me to think they wold be :)

First attempt above, I think my first mistake was doing it at night with colours too similar. I ended up with more deep orange than bright orange and boy was clean up messy! I used Zoya Arizona and Essie Snap Happy.

The second try I taped my fingers so cleanup was a breeze. I used Lime Crime Lavendairy and Once in a Blue Mousse. I think I probably ended up with too much lavender and need to practice more but they turned out ok for a second attempt :). Can at least cross that off my must try list for now.

Of course I had to add a little sparkle and gave them a quick coat of China Glaze Fairy Dust, it's an awesome polish and one of my must have polishes.
