Disney Princess Challenge - Mulan

So this week is Mulan, as I really can't draw I couldn't do the cute little dragon :(. I'm still pleased with how they came out. The base is Zoya Marley, I then sponged Zoya Danni and another Zoya that I can't remember to give some background to the cherry blossoms. The branches are China Glaze Grape Pop. For Mulan's Bodice I used Nubar Tea Green, OPI Jade is the New Black, and Zoya Song.

I'm really enjoying doing this challenge and seeing what everyone else comes up with.

Easter nails

I was getting a little tired of pastels and was keen to try out OPI Vant to Bite My Neck? Love the colour!! It's gorgeous and applied beautifully.

I then applied silver caviar beads to my ring finger, I love how they look just for a bit of a change. One my middle finger I tried to make a necklace with a cross. It didn't turn out exactly how I picture it but I do love the overall look.

Have a fabulous Saturday!

Easter Bunny Nails

Today I did a cute Easter Bunny mani. I'm happy with how he turned out, he's very cute! My dog seems to think so to as he wants to lick him all the time :) I free handed my bunny using polish and have picked back up the flow needed to use nail art brushes.

The base colour is OPI You're Such A Budapest. My ring finger is a glitter bomb using Sayuri's gorgeous Love Sayuri and I cheated and stamped the lines and dots on.

It was fun to do :)

Have a wonderful Easter break and be careful!

Loki's Lacquer - Spring has Sprung and Easter Egg Hunt

Today I have two pretty polishes from Loki's Lacquers Easter collection. The green Spring has Sprung is so pretty but has given me lobster hands :(. The pastel glitter topper named Easter Egg Hunt is gorgeous and it matches colours in this collection perfectly. It also will go with just about all pastels, so a very good multi use polish to add to my stash :).

Spring has Sprung has two coats over a base of OPI Gargantuan Green Grape. It has micro holograph glitter throughout that makes my fingertips sparkle. I just love it and think it makes the perfect Easter look. Loki's Lacquer are another Australian Indie that you can find on Etsy.

DIY Speckled Nails

I can't find anywhere to buy Illamasqua Speckled polishes so thought I would try the amazing tutorial by Lucy's Stash on how to make your own. I used pastels from the butter London sweetie shop and Zoya Blu. A lesson I learnt is polish choice does matter. I don't have the Models Own pastels that were used in the tutorial and thought butter London were sheer enough but they weren't, Zoya Blu was even worse and far too opaque.

I followed the tutorial right up to adding a thin coat over the first coat of Nubar black polka dots. The thin coat completely covered the dots :(. So then I started dabbing at the wet coat with the polish brush and it removed enough to be able to see the dots. I had to repeat the process in the next step of adding the last polish where you do only place the polish in some areas. In the end I am happy with how they came out but do want to warn that not all polishes are equal and it may take a little more work to get the desired look. It wasn't really possible with Zoya Blu as it was to opaque and started to dig holes in the polish so I swapped to Essie Borrowed and Blue which worked much better than Zoya.

Colours Used
Pink (which worked the best) butter London - Fruit Machine - Index finger
Purple butter London - Molly Coddled - middle finger
Green butter London - Fiver - ring finger
orange butter London - Kerfuffle - pinkie
blue - Zoya Blu and Essie borrowed and Blue - pinkie
Dots - Nubar Black Polka Dots.

It's pretty with an Easter feel to it and it was worth the extra work :) Thanks Lucy's Stash for a great tutorial!

Loony Lacquer - Lady Bug

Today I have the 2nd polish from the Loony Lacquer Hidden Garden Collection, set to release on April 1st.

I'm so in love with one! Lady Bug had a black jelly base and is full of small and large red hex glitter and smaller red glitter. Here I am wearing two coats over butter London Union Jack Black. It is opaque in 3 coats on its own but I'm in love with the darker vampy look right now so chose a dark base. The photo above and below are taken outside so you can see how the red glitter pops. It truly is just gorgeous!

It applied beautifully with average dry time. I didn't have to fish or place glitter as it is so packed with glitter, but not so that it is too much, it's just right. The jelly allows for a gorgeous layered look which adds depth to the polish.

I think this collection is just gorgeous and so aptly named. As I mentioned previously this polish will be available from April 1st for $9 AUD at Loony Lacquer on etsy

Below is inside, see how dark and vampy it can look? <3

Above is outside with the glitter popping, I blurred the photo a little to show how much the red stands out, it is stunning!

Aussie Nails Monday - Blue

Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!

Today is Aussie Nails Monday and our theme is blue. Blue's not green (obviously) but it is probably my second favourite colour family. You may have noticed I like doing skittles in the same colour family :)

This look has a base colour of Zoya - Yummy. My index finger is striped with Essie Barbados Blue. My middle finger's dots are Zoya Blu and Zoya Breezi. My ring finger is one coat of OPI - Last Friday Night, I seriously love this glitter! Lastly my pinkie is dotted with the same as my middle and some Essie Barbados Blue dots. My Thumb is the same as my ring finger.

I love the look but not sure I'll use Zoya for dotting again, one hour after I dotted I added top coat and had some smears :(.

Have a fabulous pre-Easter week!

Please check out the fabulous designs the other Aussie's have come up with :)

Loony Lacquer - Bumble Bee

Now if you've visited here often enough you will know I love our Australian Indies and think everyone should own some. It was confirmed for me yesterday in looking into a polish swap just how lucky we are to be so spoilt by our amazing Indie creators. Today I would like to introduce you to a newer creator and their amazing polishes.

Loony Lacquer is created by Marie and this brand is creating a lot of fabulous unique designs. You can find Loony Lacquer on etsy and browse the awesome polishes.

In this post I'm giving you a sneak peek into one of the upcoming polishes from the new collection Hidden Garden which will be released on the 1st of April. This polish is appropriately named Bumble Bee and is joining the trend of the speckled polishes and taking them one step further by using such a gorgeous vibrant colour and a satin finish. In this polish is matte black square glitters and micro yellow glitter all in the butter yellow base. Bumble Bee was a dream to apply! I am wearing it alone and coverage was in 2 coats but I added a third as a personal choice as I dislike even the hint of visible nail line. I did not have to fish for one glitter they all just came out on the brush. The build up of the coats has given it a fabulous layered look. I really love the depth layered looks give. Dry time was average. The finished look speaks for itself, it's unique, multi-dimensional and vibrant. Now I'm usually not a yellow fan but this polish has me questioning why on earth haven't I purchased yellow before? It actually really compliments my skin tone.I have two more from The Hidden Garden Collection to share with you this week, so stay tuned :)

As I mentioned previously this polish will be available from April 1st for $9 AUD at Loony Lacquer on etsy. In the meantime have a look at the Disney Princess collection, it's glorious!!

Disney Princess Challenge - Snow White Nails

Disney Princess Challenge - Snow White

Ugh this was one of those manis I should have walked away from. It looks ok in the end but I've had one of those days where nothing has gone right.

So my take on Snow White is my index and pinkie are her fabulous sleeve. I used Essie Avenue Maintain and red acrylic paint. I tried to draw those red pieces with nail polish too many times, acrylic paint was a breeze!
My middle finger of course is the apple using a random lemon and the apple is Zoya Kristi.
My ring was meant to be black with the red head band but every time I stamped with various red polishes it looked brown so we have Zoya Purity - white and konad red.

If my head wasn't hurting so much I'd attempt this again but meh lol!

First Easter Nails

Easter comes around too soon doesn't it? I adore the beautiful bunny nail holiday stamping plates though and couldn't wait to play with the Easter designs :). Of course Easter means pastels which I love so blah blah any excuse :)

I love this little bunny! Isn't he/she the cutest?

So onto the look, I used Lacquer Lust's Neapolitan for my pointer and pinkie. It's so pretty and really has covered all the Neapolitan ice cream aspects. It applied beautifully. My midle finger I painted OPI - Mod About You, now I'm not a pink girl but if you are going to own one pink then make it Mod About You. It's a gorgeous colour, matches in so well with other colours and applies beautifully. I stamped over Mod about You with the Bunny Nails bunny and dotted with China Glaze Admire, Zoya Purity and Nubar Chocolate Creme. For my ring I used Zoya Purity and stamped with Bunny Nails again and China Glaze Admire, my thumb is the same as my middle finger.

I love how it turned out, pretty and eastery (if that is a word lol).

Yay it's Friday! Hope you all have a great day :)
